The Smooth AF Difference
AF MEANS ALCOHOL-FREE
No Alcohol OR Harsh Chemicals
Other treatments have up to 74% alcohol, which means they’re killing your skin and prolonging the healing process! Just 3% alcohol can increase your skin cell death by 26%!
A dermatological study conducted by the University of Toronto and the Departments of Clinical Pharmacology, Dermatology and Medicine tested the effects of 3% of alcohol (ethanol) and applied it to skin cells over the course of two days. Results concluded an increase of cell death by 26%. This body of work illustrated the correlation of ethanol exposure and skin cell self-destruction.

What is athlete's foot?
Athlete’s foot (tinea pedis) is a contagious, often reoccurring fungal infection. Various fungi can invade the skin and spread in warm, moist environments such as shoes and boots. Infections commonly begin between the toes, but the fungi can spread to the groin or underarms by touching the infected skin and other parts of the body, contaminated surfaces such as bathroom and shower floors, or materials such as bed sheets and towels.
Symptoms may include:
- Itching
- Burning
- Cracking
- Inflammation
- Discomfort
- Scaling
- Stinging
- Peeling
How common is athlete's foot?
In the U.S., one out of every four people will suffer from athlete’s foot at some point in their life. Some podiatrists claim the number is even greater due to a group of people they refer to as “Silent Sufferers”. Silent sufferers are those who do not seek treatment or have tried various products to without success. They tend to live with the discomfort and embarrassment until their athlete’s foot worsens and they must seek medical attention. Left untreated, athlete’s foot can cause other health issues.
How much do average feet sweat?
The human body is designed to sweat. Sweating helps cool our bodies. The average person has about 250,000 sweat glands in their feet producing nearly half a pint of sweat per day. That is almost SIX gallons of sweat every three months going into your shoes. Even more if you exercise, are going through puberty or menopause, hormonal changes, suffer from various health conditions, or a host of other issues. Problems can develop when feet sweat in a closed environment such as shoes and boots. Using foot care products with a high alcohol content can also contribute to skin drying out and trying to rehydrate itself by sweating more. Wearing clean socks, allowing your shoes to dry between uses, and keeping your feet clean, healthy, and protected daily with Smooth AF will help you maintain proper foot health.
